Classes at the Non-Public Primary School Structured TEACCHing?
There are currently four grades of primary education (1 through 4) available within the school, including two general-access classes for children with ASD/Asperger’s and mild intellectual disabilities, and two therapeutic classes for children with disabilities combined with the autism spectrum and moderate or severe intellectual disabilities.
Additionally, due to the therapeutic nature of the school working with children holding a current statement of special educational needs, we employ a range of specialists in fields such as: psychology, speech-therapy, neuro-speech therapy, special-education, oligophrenopedagogy, sensory integration, A. Tomatis method therapy, and social-skills training (TUS).
All students with a currently binding statement of special educational needs (e.g., due to autism, Asperger’s syndrome, disabilities combined with the autism spectrum) participate at the school or at cooperating institutions in free-of-charge individual revalidation-compensatory classes, such as for in. individual speech therapy, individual pedagogical therapy, individual sensory integration therapy, individual A. Tomatis method therapy, as well as group corrective-compensatory classes (positively influencing the development of communication-emotional-social competencies in children with ASD/Asperger’s according to the main assumptions of the SCERTS Model: https://www.SCERTS.com), such as Social-Skills Training (TUS) and Psycho-Social Skills Training (TUPS).
Furthermore, for all children with a current statement of special educational needs, the Non-Public Primary School Structured TEACCHing applies a range of specialist methods and techniques supporting education — in accordance with the main principles of the TEACCH Model (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related handicapped Children) and the proprietary Structured TEACCHing program: https://structuredteacching.pl.
Main principles of the TEACCH Model include:
- Working according to a strictly defined plan and daily schedule; for ex. PHYSICAL ORGANIZATION + DAILY SCHEDULE + AWS
- Visual channel for information transfer and visual support; for ex. VISUAL STRUCTURES & EXTENDING STRUCTURES (AAC)
- A large number of educational and therapeutic aids of a multisensory nature; for ex. SENSORY INTEGRATION (SI)
- Strengthening the child’s natural motivation in the learning process — non-directive / developmental approach / PEP 3
Participation of students in all the above-mentioned individual revalidation-compensatory classes, as well as in all group corrective-compensatory classes, is free of charge.
